Padua’s Palazzo Dalle Ragione, with its great hall on the upper floor, is reputed to have the largest roof unsupported by columns in Europe.

I have heard a lot about the Festival, and would like very much to attend as a musician. What is a typical day like?

All Festival participants stay at the Hotel Internazionale, and all classes are held at the Alexander Palace Hotel.

For the entire ten days of the Festival, all participants take breakfast, lunch and dinner together at the Internazionale. The atmosphere is pleasant, congenial, and very collegial.

After breakfast, musicians go to classes. Classes continue through the morning, after which everyone returns for lunch. There is an afternoon pause from one until four, when many musicians choose to practice, swim, or rest. At four in the afternoon, classes resume until seven in the evening, when dinner is served. Evening concerts begin at nine-thirty, and last approximately ninety minutes.

I have friends and family members who would also like to attend, even though they are not musicians. Is this possible?

Absolutely! Many of the people coming to the Festival join participating musicians, but take advantage of the time by enjoying the many area attractions, and attending recitals in the evening, thereby making the Festival not just a retreat for musicians, but a wonderful vacation as well.

How do I register for classes?

When filling out the application forms for the Festival, one chooses a particular instrument. Classes, coachings, and master classes are scheduled on the basis of participants’ needs.

How do you choose who gets to attend?

There is no selection committee, but people who attend, no matter what age, are seriously dedicated to their work and careers as musicians. Most participants have considerable performance experience, and use their time at the Festival to work intensively on specific repertoire.

Others, who choose to join us on a “learning vacation” take advantage of the many tours and trips offered daily to points of interest in the region.

What do the fees include?

The Festival is designed to include all costs, except airfare. The cost of registration includes transfers, hotels, and meals at the hotel. Tours and any sightseeing trips are optional.

What are the sightseeing trips like? Who usually attends?

The trips are designed to introduce Festival participants to the many sights and features of the region, while creating a greater understanding of the Italian history associated with the area. All trips are well-supervised, with excellent guides.

People attending are relatives and friends of some the participants, as well as students who might not have coachings or lessons during a particular morning or afternoon.

How often will I be required to perform?

Performances will vary based on the number of students, the instruments, and general availability of performance venues. However, each participant can expect to perform at least twice within the Festival time frame in addition to presentations in the daily performance classes.
